Career Services - Frequently Asked Questions
Simply click here to complete the Free Consultation Form. The completed form will go directly to Angela Hayes, alumni career services consultant. She will contact you within 48 hours to schedule your consult. If you have specific questions or would prefer to talk to Angela directly before filling out the form, you may call her at (785) 532-3392 or (800) 600-2586 or e-mail her at ahayes@k-state.com.

*You must be a member of the K-State Alumni Association in order to use this member benefit.

This depends on your needs. We'll create the agenda together based upon what you've identified as being important on the Free Consultation Form. A typical session might involve working on a resume and cover letter, going over job search strategies and talking through interview skills.
Let Angela know that you would like to schedule more sessions. You can do this by calling (785) 532-3392 or (800) 600-2586 or e-mailing ahayes@k-state.com. You can schedule one session at the rate of $50 or a package of four sessions for $180. *When you purchase additional sessions, you are given 6 months of free access to the K-State CES system to post your resume and search for jobs (a $60-value).
Additional consultations might be used, for example, by someone who wishes to change careers, is considering going back to school, is considering some other big change or would just like more assistance in their job search. Like the free consultation, the agenda can be set by your communicated priorities.

You do need to be a member for some of the services, but not all of them. Both the free consult and the additional consults are benefits of being an Alumni Association member.

Those who are not members, but who are graduates of K-State, can use CareerBeam and Quiet Agent, can attend career fairs on the K-State campus and can utilize many areas of the Career and Employment Services Web site. Also, those alumni who have graduated within the last year can receive free career assistance from Career and Employment Services on campus. You can contact Career and Employment Services at (785) 532-6506 or visit www.ksu.edu/ces.

No. Anyone can join the K-State Alumni Association. Once you are a member, you can utilize all Alumni Association benefits. Click here to learn more about K-State Alumni Association membership.
One way is to search through CareerBeam. CareerBeam offers Web-crawling technology that pulls job postings from a wide variety of areas on the Web. If you have not yet registered for CareerBeam, click here to register. Your username and password will be e-mailed to you. (This e-mail will be sent automatically as soon as you register. If you do not immediately receive it, please check your junk folder.) Enter your username and password on the CareerBeam home page to search jobs and utilize a wide variety of other career resources.

Another way to search for jobs is by using the online Career and Employment Services (CES) system. Jobs posted in the system are placed by employers interested in hiring K-State alumni. Once you have created an online account in the system, you also can upload your resume to be viewed by employers.

There are two ways to access the online CES system. Six months of complimentary access is provided with any paid consultation. The other way is to purchase six months of access to the system for $60. If you would like to purchase access, click here to sign up.

The funds used to pay for the development and maintenance of the Career and Employment Services Web site comes from on-campus tuition enhancement dollars. Consequently, current students are the only users able to access the system for free.
