Homecoming week is Oct. 21-27, 2012!
Homecoming week is packed with fun activities and events for students, alumni and the Manhattan community. While some events are annual occurrences, others may change from year to year, depending on the dates of Homecoming Week. Below is a schedule of events.

Sunday, Oct. 21
All-University Homecoming Philanthropy 5K Race, 10 a.m.
Spirit Signs, campus, judged at 2 p.m., displayed all week
Spirit Banners, Union, judged at 2 p.m., displayed all week
Sidewalk Chalking Contest, Bosco Student Plaza, 12-2 p.m., judged at 2 p.m.
“Wildcat Adventures” Coloring Contest winners displayed, Manhattan Town Center
Crazy Cat Kickoff, Weber Arena, 6 p.m.

Monday, Oct. 22
K-State Alumni Center 10th Anniversary Open House, 2-7 p.m.
Pant the Chant, Bramlage Coliseum, 8 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 23
Paint the ‘Ville Contest, Aggieville, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 24
Wildcats CAN, Union, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Wildcat Request Live, Bramlage Coliseum, 8 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 25
K-State Ambassador Elections, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 26
Trick-or-Treat in Aggieville, 3-5:30 p.m.
Homecoming Parade, route begins at Manhattan Town Center, 5 p.m.
Homecoming Pep Rally, Larry Norvell Band Shell, City Park, immediately following parade, (approx. 6:30 p.m.)
Residence Hall Homecoming Dance, Strong Complex Courtyard, 9 p.m.-midnight

Saturday, Oct. 27
K-State Alumni Center open, time TBA
Homecoming Pregame, Cat Town, 12:30-2:30 p.m.
Football game, K-State vs. Texas Tech, time 2:30 p.m.
Volleyball game, K-State vs. Baylor, 7 p.m.
Winning spirit signs displayed at Bill Snyder Family Stadium
Committee recognized and new ambassadors announced during football half time

 

 Sunday:

 

All-University Homecoming Philanthropy 5K Race, 10 a.m.
The annual Homecoming 5K Race is an All-University Philanthropy open to students, alumni and the public. The 10th annual Homecoming 5K will benefit the Anthony Bates Foundation. Click here to view the race results.

Spirit Signs, campus, judged at 2 p.m., displayed all week
Greek and residence hall pairings construct signs displaying their unique K-State spirit with the Homecoming theme and the signs will be on display throughout Homecoming Week.

Spirit Banners, Union, judged at 2 p.m., displayed all week
Student organizations compete in this competition. Finished banners will hang in the Student Union all week.

Sidewalk Chalking Contest, Bosco Student Plaza, 12-2 p.m., judged at 2 p.m.
Campus organizations decorate Bosco Student Plaza north of the K-State Student Union with the Homecoming theme.

"Wildcat Adventures" Coloring Contest winners displayed, Manhattan Town Center
Youth in area elementary schools compete in their own Homecoming event. Coloring contest winners' designs will be on display at Manhattan Town Center all week. Click here to print off this year's coloring page for grades K-2. Grades 3-6 are invited to enter a freehand drawing inspired by this year's Homecoming theme on an 8.5"x11" piece of paper. Submissions are invited for all grades, and entries must be postmarked by Oct. 15 to be in the contest.

Crazy Cat Kickoff, Weber Arena, 6 p.m.
This series of comical games is sponsored by the K-State Association of Residence Halls. Residence halls and cooperative houses governed by K-State enter teams of five men and five women with points awarded for the top four finishes and participation.
 

 Monday:

 

K-State Alumni Center 10th Anniversary Open House
Join K-State students, staff and alumni as we celebrate the K-State Alumni Center's 10th Anniversary Open House on Monday, Oct. 22. Activities will include prize drawings, performances from K-State student groups, refreshments, photos with Willie, Call Hall ice cream, tours of the Alumni Center and more! Pant the Chant, Bramlage Coliseum, 8 p.m.
Homecoming pairings and student organizations can show their enthusiasm at this high-energy event. Groups must be approximately 50 percent male and 50 percent female and have one and a half minutes to show their creativity through chants and actions. This event is open to the public.

 

 Tuesday:

 

Paint the 'Ville Contest, Aggieville, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Campus organizations and Homecoming pairings decorate business windows in Aggieville with the Homecoming theme.

 Wednesday:

Wildcats CAN, Union, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
A recycled material and canned food sculpture competition open to any group on campus. Structures will be on display until Thursday afternoon.

Wildcat Request Live, Bramlage Coliseum, 8 p.m.

During this lip sync and dance competition, Greek Homecoming pairings perform to a song of their choice. This event is open to the public. To watch a video about K-State's WRL, click here.







Thursday:

 

K-State Student Ambassador Elections, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
During the week, the student body elects a male and a female student to serve as K-State Student Ambassadors for the following year. Several finalists are selected through an interview process and the finalists participate in the Homecoming Week activities. The student body participates in an online election to select the student ambassadors. The K-State Student Ambassadors are announced during halftime of the Homecoming football game.

Children's Carnival, Union, 6-8 p.m.
This event invites families of the Manhattan community to interact with K-State students at the K-State Student Union. Homecoming pairings will set up booths and students will hand out goodies to children in attendance. This event is sponsored by the Union Program Council.

 Friday:


Trick-or-Treat in Aggieville, 3-5:30 p.m.
Bring the kids down to the 'Ville for some free, safe, fun Trick-or-Treating!

Homecoming Parade, route begins at Manhattan Town Center
This is a highlight of Homecoming Week as the Manhattan community and K-State students show off their parade entries and Homecoming floats. The parade route begins on Poyntz Avenue at Manhattan Town Center. Grand marshals will be Thane and Sally Baker. Click here to register a parade entry.

Homecoming Pep Rally, Larry Norvel Band Shell, City Park, immediately following parade (approx. 6:30 p.m.)
Following the parade, join K-Staters for the spirit-filled pep rally at the Larry Norvell Band Shell in City Park. The KSU Pep Band, cheerleaders, Classy Cats and Willie will be on hand to rev the crowd for Saturday's football game against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Residence Hall Homecoming Dance, Strong Complex Courtyard, 9 p.m.-midnight

Join friends and fellow residents for a fun evening to celebrate Homecoming Week and build excitement for the game! 

 Saturday:

K-State Alumni Center open, time TBA

Homecoming Pregame, Cat Town, 12:30-2:30 p.m.

The Homecoming Pregame is hosted by the Association and Student Homecoming Committee. It will be from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

K-State Football Game, Bill Snyder Family Stadium, 2:30 p.m.
The K-State football team will play Texas Tech in Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The winning spirit signs will be on display at the stadium. During halftime, the 2013 K-State student ambassadors will be announced on the field. In addition, the Homecoming Committee also will be recognized.

K-State Volleyball Game, Ahearn Field House, 7 p.m.
The K-State volleyball team will take on Baylor at Ahearn Field House. Pack the Field House for only $1!
