The K-State Alumni Association is the recipient of the 2015 Outstanding Support for International Initiatives Award. Given by the Kansas State University Office of International Programs leadership team, this award is presented annually during the International Education Week celebration. The award recognizes a department or organization within the university who has gone above and beyond to support the office's international initiatives or serve K-State's global student body.

The K-State Alumni Association received the award at the 2015 International Education Awards Ceremony on Nov. 19.

"Our team was impressed with the many new initiatives undertaken by the K-State Alumni Association, the 20 scholarships they awarded for international students, hosting International Family Fun Day in September, providing International Student Leadership Awards and the recent international travel by their staff to establish and engage our alumni networks," said Marcelo Sabates, associate provost of international programs.

"It's an honor to accept the 2015 Outstanding Support for International Initiatives Award on behalf of the K-State Alumni Association staff," said Amy Button Renz ’76, ’86, president and CEO of the K-State Alumni Association. "As the K-State Family continues to expand globally, the K-State Alumni Association staff is committed to offer programs that enrich the international experience for students and serve as a lifelong link to help our nearly 5,000 international alumni and friends stay connected around the world. I would like to thank Jessica Elmore '06, '15, our associate director of diversity programs, for her leadership on these important initiatives."

The K-State Alumni Association is dedicated to serving its members across the globe and celebrating K-State’s rich international ties and traditions. Some of the Alumni Association’s internationally-focused programs include:

• International Student and Family Fun Day, which gives international students and their families a chance to learn what the Alumni Association has to offer while enjoying international desserts and music, games, face painting and more.

• International Leadership Award, which honors four outstanding international students each year for their achievements during their college careers at K-State.

• International Graduation Celebration, which honors international graduates with an evening of fun, door prizes and food.

• International Student Scholarships, which help international students pursue their dream of studying at K-State.

• International Alumni Groups, which connect alumni across the world.
