Nearly 300 K-Staters painted Denver purple at the inaugural Wabash CannonBall Colorado on Jan. 24 while they danced, dined and raised $85,000 to establish an endowment for scholarships for Colorado students to attend K-State.

The sold-out gala will provide four $5,000 scholarships to the following students in the 2014-15 school year: Elena D’Angelo, Broomfield, Colo., Topanga McBride, Severance, Colo., Sarah Ross, Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Casey Thompson, Fort Collins, Colo.

The gala is modeled after the Wabash CannonBall in Kansas City. Approaching its eighth consecutive year, the Wabash CannonBall in Kansas City has raised more than $1.6 million for Kansas City-area K-State students, funding more than 200 scholarships.
