K-State, Foundation, Alumni Association receive CASE awards for writing, design, creativity

Kansas State University's Division of Communications and Marketing, the KSU Foundation and the K-State Alumni Association received 24 awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, or CASE, Mid-America District VI at its conference Jan. 24-26 in Kansas City, Missouri.

The council is an international association of educational institutions. District VI includes Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. Each year the district selects winners of the CASE awards, which recognize and celebrate outstanding programs and individuals, from hundreds of entries submitted by its member institutions. 

 K-State Alumni Association

The K-State Alumni Association received six CASE awards for creative works and programs from 2014-15. One of the awards is in the Platinum Category for Best Practices in Alumni Relations. The award, for the Young Alumni Survey, automatically advances the survey to CASE's national awards program.

"We are honored once again by the number of CASE awards earned by our collective staffs representing the K-State family," said Amy Button Renz '76, '86, president and CEO of the K-State Alumni Association. "These awards are a testament to the quality and creativity that go into our work to help alumni, friends, students, faculty and staff stay engaged and connected with the university and with each other."

• Gold awards for overall operations of the K-State license plate program; International Graduation Celebration diversity program; and the Kansas State University Distinguished Young Alumni Award Program for student alumni initiatives. 

• A silver award for the fall 2014 K-Stater magazine cover illustration. 

• A bronze award for International Student and Family Fun Day diversity program.

 KSU Foundation

The KSU Foundation received seven CASE awards for creative works and programs from 2014-15.

"The KSU Foundation is proud of the recognition from CASE District VI, as these awards validate the exceptional work done by our staff," said Greg Willems, KSU Foundation president and CEO. "It's also a reflection of the collaborative relationship we enjoy with others, from our valued vendors to collaborators on campus and beyond. Together, we are increasing awareness of the importance of philanthropy at K-State and the KSU Foundation's role in the university's future success."

• Gold awards for "Geosciences Building" long video, "End-of-the-year thank you" short video; spring 2015 Good for K-State special constituency magazine; and periodical staff writing for a portfolio of five articles published in the spring 2014, fall 2014 and spring 2015 issues of Good for K-State

• Silver awards for the design of the spring 2015 Good for K-State magazine; and for the best use of social media for the ongoing Quotables: Donors quote graphics series.

• A bronze award for design of the spring 2014 Good for K-State magazine. 

 K-State's Division of Communications and Marketing

K-State's Division of Communications and Marketing received 11 CASE awards for creative works from 2014-15. 

"The CASE awards validate that the K-State One Voice initiative is successful and the university is benefiting from talented individuals with a passion to promote the university," said Jeff Morris '80, university vice president for communications and marketing. "We are honored to be recognized for our work to advance and support education at Kansas State University." 

• Gold awards for the Find Your Voice choir poster design; "Office of Admissions Hype" short recruitment video; It's on Us advocacy campaign; issues and crisis management strategic communications for university furlough communications; and Graduate School "Plant Pathology No. 1 National Ranking" commercial. 

• Silver awards for the orientation and enrollment calendar design; a portfolio of five research, medicine and science news releases; and the K-State Today internal audience e-newsletter.

• Bronze awards for the Confucius Institute single page publication; the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance's "A Day in the Life of Kirmser Hall" long video; and the K-State Global Campus "I am Global" commercial.
