An Easier Way to Drive with Pride

K-State Alumni Communications

K-State fans now have an easier way to drive with pride. The process to buy or renew a K-State license plate just got easier.

When purchasing or renewing a K-State license plate, a $50 donation first must be made to the K-State Alumni Association. However, as of Jan. 1, Kansas county treasurers will directly accept the $50 donation in conjunction with paying your annual state tags and taxes. You will no longer need to receive a voucher from the Alumni Association.

Plate Renewal Process:
1. You will receive your annual tags and taxes statement from the state of Kansas.
2. Included in the statement will be your $50 donation to the Alumni Association for being a K-State plate holder.
3. Only one payment transaction will be needed when paying your statement (Alumni Association donation and tags/taxes
    all in one).
4. Renewal will now be done directly in the treasurer’s office, online via KS Web Tags or by mail.
5. No purple voucher will be needed.
6. Once you have renewed your tag and made your $50 donation with the county treasurer, your tax-deductibility statement will be
emailed by the KSU Foundation after 90 days of the transaction.

New Plates Process
New plate purchases will now be directly purchased in the treasurer’s office.

Gift Plates
If you’d like to give a plate as a gift, contact the Alumni Association at 800-600-ALUM (2586), and the staff will assist you with this process.

The Alumni Association has been leading the efforts with the state Legislature since 2010 to make this change. The goal was to make the process more customer-friendly and less time-consuming when renewing or purchasing a K-State plate.

With more than 4,000 plates on the road, K-State is proud to be the No. 1 affinity plate in Kansas. To date, the license plate program has raised more than $1.8 million for student scholarships.

“We want to thank alumni and friends for their continued support of K-State and for driving with pride,” said Kelly Law, director of membership and marketing for the Alumni Association.

If you have any questions about the new process, contact the Alumni Association at 800-600-ALUM (2586).
