After graduation, many Kansas State University alumni go on to make a difference in their communities, their countries and the world, using their skills and talents to innovate, create and make the world a better place.

If you know a K-State alumna or alumnus who has excelled in his or her career and also made a difference in the lives of others, the K-State Alumni Association encourages you to nominate him or her for the new Alumni Excellence Award. This award honors an alumna or alumnus of K-State whose career, service and achievements exemplify the spirit, values and excellence of the university.

“This is the Alumni Association’s highest honor for our distinguished alumni,” said Michelle Elkins '87, associate director of awards and special events for the Alumni Association.

The award carries on the tradition of the Alumni Association’s past Medallion Award, which was presented from 1969-2004 and recognized alumni whose humanitarian service added measurably to the quality of life.

Nominations are being accepted through May 1 for the 2016 Alumni Excellence Award. Criteria for consideration include:

• The nominee’s career endeavors should have achieved national and/or international recognition.
• The nominee should have contributed service to his or her local, state, national or international community.
• The nominee should have the highest standards of integrity and character that exemplify the spirit of Kansas State University.

Learn more about the award, the qualifications and the nomination process. The Alumni Association will recognize the 2016 recipient during the inaugural Alumni Excellence Award banquet Oct. 7.

The Alumni Association also would like to thank the Curt '73 and Sherry '73 Frasier family for their generosity to endow the award.

“Kansas State University students and graduates distinguish themselves and the university in so many ways in their careers and in what they do for others," Curt Frasier said. "This Alumni Excellence Award, however, will allow the proper recognition of special alumni who have clearly exhibited true excellence.”
