signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mueller with the San Diego Chargers and
Waters with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In addition to the three signed
players, wide receiver Tyler Lockett was selected in the second round (No. 69
overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks, while Randall Evans was
picked in the sixth round (No. 196 overall) by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Finney, who started a school record 52-straight games, is one of three players
in school history to earn all-conference designations all four years, including
first-team honors his final three seasons. Named a Second Team All-American by
USA Today as a senior, Finney was also a finalist for the Rimington Trophy,
awarded annually to the nation's top offensive lineman.
starting defensive end, Mueller was signed by the Chargers as both a linebacker
and fullback. The former walk-on is tied for fifth place in school history in
career sacks with 20.5, including a school-record tying 11.5 in 2013. He was a
two-time First Team All-Big 12 performer, the 2013 Big 12 Defensive Lineman of
the Year and a Second Team All-American as a junior from the Football Writers
Association of America.
Waters came to K-State as a community-college
transfer, started all 26 games over the past two seasons and left as one of the
most accurate and efficient passers in school history as he broke the school
career records for completion percentage (64.1), passing efficiency (155.6) and
total offensive yards per game (260.2). He also set the K-State single-season
record for passing yardage (3,501) and total offensive yards (3,985) in 2014 en
route to Second Team All-Big 12 honors and semifinalist status for the Maxwell
Award (nation's top player) and Davey O'Brien Award (nation's top
Kansas State, which returns 44 letterwinners
— including 16 starters — from last year's 9-4 team, begins the 2015
campaign on Sept. 5, by hosting South Dakota at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The
other six home games feature five opponents that advanced to bowl games in 2014,
including a pair of top-10 teams in TCU (No. 3/3) and Baylor (No. 7/8).
