For the second time in his
career, K-State baseball head coach Brad Hill was named American Baseball
Coaches Association (ABCA)/Diamond Midwest Region Coach of the Year. In addition
to 2013, Hill was named the ABCA Midwest Region Coach of the Year in
This year's ABCA honor adds to Hill receiving the 2013 Big 12 Coach
of the Year award in May. Hill and the Wildcats won the Big 12 title after going
45-19 overall and 16-8 in conference play.
Hill piloted the Wildcats to a
school-record 45 wins, en route to capturing the program's first conference
championship in 80 years. Hill also led K-State to host its first Regional and
make its first ever trip to the Super Regional round. K-State recorded 16 wins
in the Big 12 - also a school-record - and was tops in the conference in several
statistical categories, including batting average, runs scored, hits and stolen
Hill is not the only Wildcat to be recognized by the ABCA for
notable performances in 2013. Ross Kivett was tabbed to the ABCA All-American
Second Team, one of the second baseman's three All-American nods from different
organizations last season. Kivett was also named to the ABCA Midwest All-Region
First Team, while Jared King was named to the All-Region Second Team.
K-State was No. 14 in the final ABCA/USA Today Top 25 Poll of the 2013
The eight ABCA Regional Coach of the Year honors and National
Coach of the Year award are selected by a committee of college coaches
representing each region. Monmouth head coach Dean Ehehalt, from the ABCA's East
Region, chairs the committee.
K-State baseball is currently in the midst
of Fall Camp, preparing for its Big 12 conference title defense in 2014. The
