Volunteer judges sought for upcoming career development conference
If you work in marketing, finance, hospitality or management, Kansas State University
could use your career expertise!
This spring, K-State will host the Kansas DECA state career development conference.
DECA is seeking volunteers from a wide variety of fields to help judge the competition
March 2, from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the K-State Student Union. About
750 students attend this competition each year from across the state of Kansas.
DECA — which originally stood for Distributive Education Clubs of America — is an
organization for high school students that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs
for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. There also is a collegiate
division.
Volunteer judges will listen to presentations from students and will use a prepared
evaluation sheet to rate the student’s knowledge and performance. Some of the presentations
will involve roleplay, where the students review a situation just minutes before meeting
you. Other presentations are prepared in advance back at their high school.
To register as a judge, please complete the online form by Feb 17.
