O. Earl Clark Awarded University Alumni Medallion

O. Earl Clark was graduated from Kansas State University in 1939 with a degree in journalism and joined the Occidental Life Insurance Company of California in 1940 as editor of the company's agency magazine. He was elected second vice president of agency operation in 1958, vice president of agencies in 1959, a director and president in 1963, chief executive officer in 1965, and chairman of the board in 1971. He received the coveted Chartered Life Underwriter designation in 1956. When Mr. Clark started to work for the company, it was 31st largest in the country. Now it is one of the nation's top ten. He can include among his many titles that of group vice president for insurance and investment services for the Transamerica Corporation, parent company of Occidental.

Mr. Clark is a past-president of the San Gabriel Valley Life Underwriters Association, a director of the Southern California Visitors Council, a member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, and the Newcomen Society of North America. He also is a director of United Artists Corporation and United Artists Records, a member of the President's Urban Transportation Advisory Council and past director of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, among many other civic and professional organizations.
