Alumni Association, Catbackers award scholarships to students in Hays area
Nineteen area students have been awarded scholarships to Kansas State University totaling $28,500. The scholarships were awarded by the Heartland Catbackers, the Col. Gayle Foster Endowed Scholarship Fund, the Larry and Kay Weigel Family Scholarship Fund and the K-State Alumni Association.
The recipients are Keeli Kimzey, Catharine, Kansas; Ethan Carroll, Ellis, Kansas; Ava Biggs, Molly Buckles, Seth Burkholder, Savannah Clingan, Izaac Fox, Brody Harmoney, Jacob Hemphill, Cade Lind, Molly Martin, Aubrey Preston, Noah Schaeffer and Maci Vanek, Hays, Kansas; Madison Wieger, Russell, Kansas; Cheyenne Hoeting, Stockton, Kansas; Brinly Lichter and Myah Younger, Victoria, Kansas; and Olivia Crawford, Wilson, Kansas.
“We are pleased to congratulate these outstanding students,” said Josh Diazdeleon, associate director of alumni programs for the K-State Alumni Association. “The Alumni Association board of directors is committed to helping prospective students attend K-State. We greatly appreciate local alumni and friends who have helped make these awards possible through their loyal support.”
There are more than 1,220 K-State alumni and friends in Ellis County.
The scholarships are for the 2026-27 academic year. The Alumni Association annually awards more than $700,000 in student scholarships with funding provided by local K-State alumni and friends and Alumni Association programming.
