Alumni Association, Catbackers award scholarships to students in Topeka area

Five Topeka area students have been awarded scholarships to Kansas State University totaling $5,000. The scholarships were awarded by the Topeka Area Catbackers and the K-State Alumni Association.

The recipients are Ava Gustin, Carbondale, Kansas; Lorna Smith, Holton, Kansas; Brayden Just, Silver Lake, Kansas; and Rowan Darby and Ava Ritter, Topeka, Kansas.

“We are so pleased to congratulate these outstanding students,” said Josh Diazdeleon, associate director of alumni programs for the K-State Alumni Association. “The Alumni Association board of directors is committed to helping prospective students attend K-State. We greatly appreciate local alumni and friends who have helped make these awards possible through their loyal support.”

There are more than 8,970 K-State alumni and friends in the Topeka area. 

The scholarships are for the 2026-27 academic year. The Alumni Association annually awards more than $700,000 in student scholarships with funding provided by local K-State alumni and friends and Alumni Association programming.
