License plate

We did it, Oklahoma Wildcats! Thanks to the hard work from all our volunteers and more than 200 preorders, the official K-State License Plate is now widely available to purchase in your state.

Drive with pride

In order to launch the K-State License Plate in Oklahoma, the K-State Alumni Association first had to secure 200 preorders before the plate could be officially approved by the state. We couldn’t have reached that important milestone without you!

A special thanks to the committee who worked so hard on this project for the past year: Roger Coulter '62, Larry Kraft '62, Sean Moran '92, Brandon Payne '10, Lukas Sundahl '06, Sean Wallace '11, Herb Whitney '63,  and K-State Alumni Association staff members Ally Brooks '08 and Megan Reichenberger '11.

“What a great day this summer when we learned that we had reached the required advance sales to get approval of the K-State plate from the state of Oklahoma,” said K-Stater Herb Whitney '63 (pictured below). “With a change in the Oklahoma tax law, help from the K-State Alumni Association, a task force of Oklahoma K-Staters, and most importantly the over 200 Oklahomans who advance-purchased the license plates, made this a reality.

"It is exciting to see the bright purple license plate emblazoned with the Powercat on cars and trucks traveling the streets and roads in Oklahoma. The plates catch your eye and look great on a vehicle. Everyone I know who ordered and received a plate really loves it. A fantastic way to show your K-State pride."

How much does the plate cost?
The first year, you will pay a fee of $40. Then each time your tags are up for renewal, you will pay $36.55 to have the specialty plate along with your annual tag and registration fees and taxes.
