Alumni Excellence Award recipient to give Q&A on reducing poverty through agriculture, rural development

The K-State Alumni Association is celebrating Kanayo F. Nwanze, Ph.D., as the next recipient of the Alumni Excellence Award.

Nwanze has over 40 years of experience across three continents in poverty reduction through agriculture, rural development and research, including as president of the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development from 2009-2017. Nwanze also introduced and promoted a new rice for Africa which is a high-yield, drought and pest-resistant variety developed specifically for the African landscape while serving as Director-General at the Africa Rice Centre of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

He will deliver a lecture on his book, A Bucket of Water - Reflections on Sustainable Rural Development, on Friday, Oct. 20, in Room 114 of the Leadership Studies Building from 2-3 p.m. It will touch on topics of agriculture, rural development and more. The entire K-State community is invited to attend.
