Alumni Association, Catbackers award scholarships to students in Finney County and surrounding areas
Thirty-one area students have been awarded scholarships to Kansas State University totaling $15,500. The scholarships were awarded by the K-State Alumni Association, the Finney County Catbackers, the Claar family, the Fankhauser family and the Col. Gayle Foster Endowed Scholarship Fund.
The recipients are Elanor Crotts, Leydaly Enriquez, Kayla Ermish, Evan Finch, Piper Harris, Katie Heiman, Samuel James, Daisy Lira-Hernandez, Neptune Marcellus, Dianna Morales, Ruby Mueller, Joey Nguyen, Gavin Norton, Jackelyn Ortega, Natalie Segura, Riley Sekavec, Keeden Sisco-Pianalto, Rebecca Solorzano, Kaden Strasser, Avery Strecker, Tia Swords, Jasper Transfiguracion, Mikey Varela, Emma Wedel and Logan Wyatt, Garden City, Kansas; Shillelagh Kentner and Sarah Peters, Lakin, Kansas; and Kayda Garcia and John Te Velde, Syracuse, Kansas.
Additionally, Avery Just, Garden City, received the Charles and Rebecca Claar Family Scholarship; and Kate McDonald, Garden City, received the Fankhauser Family Scholarship.
“We are so pleased to congratulate these outstanding students,” said Alan Fankhauser, associate director of alumni programs for the K-State Alumni Association. “The Alumni Association board of directors is committed to helping prospective students attend K-State. We greatly appreciate local alumni and friends who have helped make these awards possible through their loyal support.”
The scholarships are for the 2025-26 academic year. The Alumni Association annually awards more than $650,000 in student scholarships with funding provided by local K-State alumni and friends and Alumni Association programming.
