Nearly 800 guests gathered in Overland Park, Kansas, on Feb. 27 to celebrate K-State at the ninth annual Wabash CannonBall Kansas City, hosted by the K-State Alumni Association.

This year, the event - which has sold out every year - took place at the Overland Park Convention Center to accommodate more guests.

The black-tie gala raises money to provide scholarships for future K-State students in the Kansas City area. Although final numbers are still being confirmed, this year’s Wabash CannonBall Kansas City broke fund raising records. Through the gala’s first nine years, 308 student scholarships have been awarded, totaling $770,000. The gala also has funded a scholarship endowment fund, totaling nearly $1.7 million, that will provide a lasting impact for future K-State students. The continued generosity of K-Staters allows 40 new scholarships to be awarded for the 2015-16 academic year as well as 15 scholarships renewed for previous recipients.
