Sam Bond and Chaz Corredor were named the 2020 K-State Student Ambassadors during halftime of the K-State Homecoming football game.

The two will represent the student body at alumni and student events for one year. Each received a $1,500 scholarship, clothing from Borck Bros. and an official K-State ring.

The Student Ambassador program is sponsored by the K-State Alumni Association. Each year a female and male student are elected. Bond and Corredor were selected after completing a nomination and application process followed by a first-round interview with a student panel and a second-round interview with K-State faculty and alumni. Both were then elected by a student ballot during K-State's Homecoming week activities.

About me
I'm someone who plays way too much Mario Kart and Mario Party on Wii, dances to the Greatest Showman and continues to watch One Direction music videos over and over again 'till I cry! So if you enjoy those activities please join me!

Why is K-State important to you?
K-State is important to me, because of how students are genuinely treated and put first by staff and community members. The minute a new student steps on this campus they are treated as a member of the family and community - that is why I love this school and bleed purple every day.

Why did you decide to run for Ambassador?
I decided to run for ambassador because of my past experience with working for the university and spending time with Maddy Mash and Tel Wittmer. Being able to see how much energy and effort is put into each student that walks through our front doors has inspired me to continue that value in my own life and what I want to further in my leadership at K-State. Seeing how passionate Maddy and Tel have been with their position as ambassador has been an inspiration for me to want to radiate that same character and positivity on this campus for new, current, and graduating students.

What is your greatest challenge to overcome in projecting a positive image about K-State?
I think the greatest challenge I will have to overcome is admitting to myself that I will make mistakes throughout my time here, but that those mistakes can turn into lessons. I know that I am not a perfect person but the attitude to strive to be an individual who can project love and positivity is what I know I am capable of doing for the students and alumni of K-State.

What qualities do you have that will allow you to succeed in the role of an ambassador?
I like to believe that I am the type of individual who is capable of devoting time to her peers to fully know them and support them in whatever endeavors they see for their future. I love being able to meet individuals where they are at and experience the lows and highs that come with preparing for college and experiencing the atmosphere of K-State. I think having those qualities will help me thrive as an ambassador and continue the K-State way of serving others on and off this campus.

Why is K-State important to you?
K-State has given me a sense of purpose and belonging that I could’ve never imagined before college. The people I’ve met in my classes and in my campus organizations have pushed me to become who I am today. I can’t believe I’m already closer to the end of my K-State journey than the beginning, but I’m confident future generations at K-State are sure to experience what I’ve been fortunate enough to find here.

Why did you decide to run for Ambassador?
I’ve had the experience of a lifetime as a K-State student, and I want others to experience exactly what makes K-State so great. I can think of no role that provides valuable opportunities to interact with past, present and future students more than K-State Student Ambassador.

What is your greatest challenge to overcome in projecting a positive image about K-State?
Everyone knows college is expensive. Rising costs make the idea of affording a college education scarier than ever. But, the price of college pays for more than just a diploma. I hope people can accurately measure the value of K-State education and recognize that the advantages of that education have never been greater.

What qualities do you have that will allow you to succeed in the role of an ambassador?
More than anything, I think I’m relatable. Like every K-State student, I’ve succeeded, and I’ve failed. I may have had a different upbringing than other students, but these shared experiences allow me to represent K-State in a way that includes every student, not just those who look like me, take the same classes or come from the same hometown.
